How to: Create a custom autotemplate for new workbooks.
Solution:
Create a new, blank workbook, include the desired data, formats, and formulas in the workbook, save it as 'BOOK.XLT', and place the file in Excel's XLSTART folder.

a) Select the 'File' menu and select 'New...'. (The New dialog box appears.)
b) Click on the 'Workbook' icon to select it.
c) Click 'OK'. (A new, blank workbook appears.)
2) Type the desired data, formats, and formulas in the workbook:
a) Type the desired data in the worksheet.
b) Apply the desired formats to the data.
c) Type the desired formulas in the worksheet.
3) Save the workbook as 'BOOK.XLT' in Excel's XLSTART folder:
a) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save As...'. (The Save As dialog box appears.)
b) Select 'Template (*.XLT)' from the 'Save as type' drop-down list.
c) Type BOOK.XLT in the 'File name' drop-down list box.
d) Select the drive where the Microsoft Office is installed from the 'Save in' drop-down list.
e) Open the Excel XLSTART folder:
1] Select (click once on) the Microsoft Office folder.
2] Click 'Open'.
3] Select (click once on) the Excel folder.
4] Click 'Open'.
5] Select (click once on) the XLSTART folder.
6] Click 'Open'. (The XLSTART folder opens.)
f) Click 'Save' to save the template in the XLSTART folder.
NOTE: When a template is saved as 'BOOK.XLT' in the XLSTART folder, a copy of the template opens automatically when Excel starts.
